Aptitude Testing

Aptitude – noun: capability; ability; potential to do certain kinds of work.

We recognise that people have a vast range of different skills and abilities and that no two people are alike. Aptitude testing creates a reliable measure of different facets of these abilities. Analysis of test results helps us to understand and compare one person’s individual competencies against another’s.

Linking the outcome of test results to a specific job role we create a reliable, repeatable measure in which to assess the most suitable candidate for a role.

Individual test results are used in many different ways depending on the specific scenario. A minimum ‘pass’ mark can be set, below which it’s unlikely the candidate would be suitable for the role, allowing early exit from the recruitment process. In this example, it’s easy to see how this leads to an immediate reduction in recruitment costs.
This method enables informed and objective people decisions to be made with confidence and without bias. Armed with this knowledge quicker and more meaningful inductions can be tailored to individual needs.

Many different tests exist, each one measures a different aspect of an individual’s competencies. Tests which measure concentration and focus can be used to indicate where potential safety issues exist so appropriate training can be delivered. Employee’s with the proper training to do a task safely and quickly will be more engaged and satisfied with their work, increasing quality and decreasing human error. Raising standards & quality of service.

Tests are easily added to the existing recruitment processes or within learning and development to aid decision making on the most appropriate action. Aptitude training has a long history and extensive record of success.

One of the most important aspects of aptitude testing is ensuring the accuracy of results, this can only be achieved by using the right test for the right purpose. We only use tests that have proven to be reliable and valid for the specific role. All tests are approved by the British Psychological Society, unless the use of a specific test for a specific purpose is agreed in advance. All our tests have quantifiable validity to a high level of statistical accuracy and individual tests are chosen against specific criteria. Full details of each test are supplied when we create a testing programme for your organisational circumstances.

Our tests are suitable for many industries, especially:
